Bock geared up to get back on field for Gold Coast Suns

IT may be just a reserves game at Giffin Park in Brisbane, but Gold Coast Suns vice-captain Nathan Bock is as excited as a first-gamer ahead of his return to the field on Saturday.

Bock has been sidelined since breaking his leg against Fremantle at Metricon Stadium in round six last year - he still has a big lump on his lower leg where a titanium rod was inserted into the tibia.

The 30-year-old said he had spoken to other players who had been through similar problems, and was convinced he could eventually get back to full fitness.

"Chatting to Michael Barlow and Dale Morris from the Bulldogs, those guys went through similar injuries, and Matt Maguire," Bock said.

"I just discussed rehab and that gave me some reassurance to getting back to full fitness and playing football.

"It's been a long time. You have your ups and downs - I'm just excited to finally be playing some footy again."

Bock is likely to play half a game and is not expected to be available for senior selection for at least four weeks.

He could be joined on Saturday by Karmichael Hunt who has been sidelined since tearing a hamstring against the Dockers on May 4.
