Bodies of MH17 victims arrive home

THE bodies of Toowoomba MH17 crash victims Dr Roger and Dr Jill Guard have arrived back in Australia.

Their son Paul Guard flew into Melbourne Wednesday night after travelling to the Netherlands with his brother David to be a part of the repatriation process.

While in the Netherlands they were part of a private viewing of their parents' coffins as well as a departure ceremony at Eindhoven Airport.

It was there the Toowoomba doctors were loaded onto a C-17 military transport aircraft.

"The government did a good job of looking after us," Dr Guard said.

"It was very good for the healing process."

He met with the families of other Australian victims during the trip.

"There were other families doing the same thing we were.

"That was good to talk to them."

He said his parents would be flown to Brisbane on Sunday and a private family funeral would be held in Toowoomba "in the next week or so".

"We would like to thank the Australian Government and the Australian Federal Police for their efforts in the repatriation process."
