Cadaver dogs used to locate body in pine forest

CADAVER dogs were used to find a body in pine forests to the north of Caboolture this morning.

Police searching for missing Brisbane man Samuel Thompson believe they have found a grave site but say it will take several days to confirm the identity of the deceased. 

The officer in charge of the investigation into Thompson's disappearance, Detective Inspector Tim Trezise said the grisly find came about as a result of a three day investigation.

"We've found what we believe to be a grave site and we believe it to have human remains in it," Insp Trezise said. 

"We've been conducting a three day investigation in connection of the death of Samuel Thompson.

Inspector Trezise said it was too early to reveal the identity of the deceased. 

"It will take several days to identify as we have to go slowly and carefully to treat the remains with respect and there may also be more evidence," he said.

Inspector Trezise also said he could not comment on whether the find was the result of a tip off but said it came about as a result of "following up on investigative information."

Forensic officers have now arrived at the scene which is located on Pumicestone Rd, Caboolture - about 400m in from the start of the pine forest.

Inspector Trezise said the body would not have been located but for the help of cadaver dogs. 

Two men have been charged with Thompson's murder, who has not been seen since March 7.

Samuel Thompson's orange 2016 Ford Mustang was sighted in Bald Hills on March 7.

He was last seen driving from his Albion home in his orange-coloured Ford Mustang with registration plate SAMMO.
