NO TIME to exercise?

No excuse, says Jen Johnson.

The 39-year-old Toowoomba woman is a mother, a full-time worker and personal trainer - and is now a national bodybuilding champion.

In her first competition, Ms Johnson won first place in the novice figure category, and second place in the novice physique.

She said the bodybuilding lifestyle was not an easy road.

"(The diet) is very much chicken, fish, green vegetables, a little bit of oats in the morning and a serve of rice at lunch - which you get sick of very quickly.

"You have to make a lot of compromises or sacrifices.

"You have to get up first thing in the morning when you don't want to, and train after work when you don't feel like it."

Ms Johnson said she loved competing against herself - but she said there was another motivation.

"I want to inspire young people who say they don't have time.

"I'm a mother, I work full time, and I still manage to find to the time to do it."
