Author: Harlan Coben
Publisher: Orion (Hachette Aust)
BEING a massive Coben fan, I was intrigued when he re-released his second novel this year.
Miracle Cure is a real page-turner and shows that Coben is an incredible thriller writer with plenty of potential villains and fast moving action.
The story is based on research scientists trying to come up with a cure for AIDS when one of the scientists dies - who is trying to prevent this development and why?
While the novel is 20 years old, it still holds up and the facts about HIV and AIDS and how it all started were fascinating.
It also shows that as a society we haven't come as far as we should have in 20 years. There is a huge stigma against AIDS which is still considered a "gay" disease despite being prevalent in the drug community and even among heterosexual couples.
I always enjoy a good thriller that makes you think and Miracle Cure certainly does that.
