Bookies believe Swift's Shake It Off will make countdown

A SOCIAL media campaign to get Taylor Swift's catchy tune Shake it off into this year's Triple J Hottest 100 looks as though it may have paid dividends.

Bookmakers now believe the song will make the list with others claiming the song will take out one of the top five spots.

The Twitter hashtag #Tay4Hottest100 began trending in major cities earlier this week and continues to be one of the most popular hashtags across the socia media platform.

Listening to the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown on Australia Day is as patriotic as you can get.

Competition rules state voters can only vote for their top 10 favourite songs and they cannot vote for the same song more than once.

All tracks are eligible and if a particular song does not appear in the voting list there is an "add track" function available.

Therein lies the loophole that Swift fans across the nation have exploited.

Triple J station manager Chris Scaddan told News Ltd on Friday that the Swift action was legal.

"We supply a list of over 2000 songs that have been played on Triple J in 2014," Mr Scaddan said.

"People are welcome to add songs manually to their voting shortlist and those votes count exactly the same as anything voted from the Triple J list."
