Booth to apologise and pay for damage

OLYMPIC rower Josh Booth will apologise and pay $2060 in repair costs in the hope of avoiding charges for his drunken rampage.

The 21-year-old allegedly smashed windows at two businesses in Egham after a night drowning his sorrows over the Men's Eight finishing last in the final at Eton Dorney.

He reportedly believed he was breaking into his own home but was arrested by police and taken to the local station where he fainted and hit his head.

Deputy Chef de Mission Chris Fydler says the AOC is hoping it will all be resolved today.

"We are working through a process at the moment of Josh formally apologising to the shopowners for the damage he caused," Fydler said.
