Boy, 12, in hospital after being hit by bus in Coomera

A BOY was taken to hospital after being struck by a bus in Coomera this afternoon.

Around 3.55pm, a 12-year-old boy got off a school bus which had been travelling west on Coleman Road.

It appears the boy has then attempted to cross Coleman Road from behind the bus, but was struck by another bus as he stepped out onto the road.

Investigators believe that the bus was unable to avoid a collision.

The boy was treated by paramedics at the scene and was later transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with suspected head and spinal injuries.

The road was closed for a short time.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
