Boy, 8, stabbed in head

AN eight-year-old boy was stabbed in the head during an attack on a suburban street this morning, it is understood.

Paramedics responded to the incident on the corner of Park and Kingston roads at Woodridge, near Logan, in Brisbane's south, about 10.30am.

The boy suffered a puncture wound and was taken to Mater Children's Hospital, a Department of Community Services spokeswoman said.

He is in a stable condition.  Police are investigating the incident.

The apparent attack occurred close to Harris Fields State School but an Education Queensland spokeswoman said the principal had investigated and did not believe the boy was a student there.
