RUSSELL Brand wants to be loyal and honest with his wife Katy Perry.

The British star - who married the pop star in India in October - insists he has put his old lifestyle completely behind him and is determined to be the best husband he can be to the 'California Gurls'singer.

The 35-year-old comic - who has overcome heroin addiction, alcoholism and sex addiction - also isn't concerned that domestic life will have a negative effect on his controversial comedy.

He said: "Whilst at work I will fulfil those commitments, but in my marital life. I will prioritise the things required for that - loyalty and honesty and love. I think I can still make smart-aleck quips at an award ceremony, or play a dodgy character in a film when required and let that not affect my marriage. Otherwise Ray Winstone's wife must live in terror."

Russell first met Katy at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and he believes he met his wife at a time when he was ready for love.

He added to the Big Issue magazine: "She's my mate, and I get on well with her. She doesn't take any nonsense, she's very loving and sweet and good fun, and we sort of get on! To be honest, I think I was getting to a point in my life where I was ready to change."
