Pioneer Park, Landsborough, was targeted by thieves overnight.

BRAZEN thieves have hit an all-abilities playground overnight in an act that "shows a complete lack of respect for families and the wider community".

Twenty-four custom made fence panels, a pedestrian gate and a maintenance gate were stolen from the playground at Pioneer Park on Landsborough's Caloundra St overnight.

Sunshine Coast Council is appealing for anyone who saw the culprits to contact police on 131 444.

Division 1 Councillor Rick Baberowski was shocked by the brazen theft.

"This is extremely disappointing," Cr Baberowski said.

"It is very likely someone would have seen this happen, so I urge people to contact police if they are able to help.

"This shows a complete lack of respect for the families who use this playground and the wider community - ultimately ratepayers are the ones who pay for this theft."

Council will replace the fence panels and gates, however this will take some time due to the custom made, heavy duty design.

A barrier mesh fence will be erected in the interim.
