UPDATE: Motorbike rider in crash unlicensed, unroadworthy

UPDATE MAY 5: Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious two vehicle traffic crash in Rubyanna on Wednesday afternoon.

Preliminary investigations indicate at around 5:45pm a motorcycle travelling south along Burnett Heads Rd collided with a car as the car attempted to execute a U-turn.

The motorcycle rider, a 28-year-old man from Burnett Heads was transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital.

The driver, an 18-year-old woman from Burnett Heads was transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital as a precaution with minor injuries.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have seen the crash or who may have dash cam footage from the road  to contact police.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.



UPDATE 8.10AM: POLICE have confirmed a 28-year-old man involved in a crash on Burnett Heads Rd last night was driving an unroadworthy motorbike.

A Queensland Police Media spokesman said the Burnett Heads man was also driving on a disqualified licence and his motorbike was unregistered.

The man collided with a car on Burnett Heads Rd at about 5.50pm yesterday.

An 18-year-old female driver, who holds a P plate licence, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Firefighters assisted paramedics and spent two hours hosing off the road and making the area safe for drivers.


UPDATE: Bargara police Senior Constable Matt Tonkin said a male motorcyclist in his late 20s was taken to hospital suffering a possible broken arm. 

He was taken to Bundaberg Hospital.

A female driver in her late teens was taken to Bundaberg Hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were travelling in the same direction.

It is believed the road has reopened.

EARLIER: Traffic is being diverted away from Burnett Heads Rd following a serious crash involving a motorbike and a Nissan car. 

Around 5.50pm this afternoon crews were called out to the crash near the Turtle Roundabout.

It is believed a motorcycle rider has been seriously injured and taken to Bundaberg Hospital by ambulance.

The crash is believed to have happened about 100 metres from the roundabout, towards Burnett Heads.

Motorists going to Burnett Heads are being sent back towards town or Bargara.
