UPDATE 1pm:

A BOY has been taken to Mackay Base Hospital after he was reported to have been hit by a car. 

Queensland Ambulance Service has said the boy was in a stable condition. 

They were called to the scene of the incident at 11.30am.

EARLIER 12pm:

A BOY is being assessed for possible head injuries after reports he was hit by a car on Victoria St in Mackay.

Queensland Ambulance Service was called to the crash at 11.30am and have been assessing the boy.

Initial assessment has the boy in a stable condition.

It is believed the car was travelling at a slow speed at the time.
