CHRISTIE Brinkley worries people are only interested in her because she is famous.

The 56-year-old supermodel - who has been married four times and has three children - admits she has had little time to date anyone since splitting from Peter Cook in 2008 after 12 years of marriage.

She said: "Most of the time, I've got my kids with me, so I'm not as prone to meeting people. And then, you never really know if someone is talking to you because you're a celebrity. It's not my number one priority."

Though all of Christie's marriages have ended in divorce, the blonde beauty tries to remain optimistic and find humour in her situations.

She told the February edition of Prevention magazine: "You've got to find a way to keep laughing, even if it's black humour, and my friends are very good at that. Some people think of happiness as a luxury, but it's a necessity, and you need to make space for it in your life."

Christie, who has children Alexa Ray, 25, Jack, 15, and Sailor, 12, always wanted to have kids and believes her work has made her a better mother.

She explained: "I always knew I wanted to be a mother, it takes a lot of work. My work makes me a better mom. It gives me a little door to step out of my parenting and bring the excitement from that day back home."
