Broncos' Jordan Kahu a shock starter against Warriors

INJURED Brisbane Broncos centre Jordan Kahu has made a stunning recovery from a quad tear last week and will be a shock starter against the Warriors at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

And Sunshine Coast star Jack Reed has also passed an 11th hour fitness test to return from off-season shoulder surgery.

Speedster James Roberts, who was in some doubt with leg issues, has also been cleared to play.

Reed will return in the centres with Kahu replacing Englishman Greg Eden on the wing.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett said he was delighted to have Reed back in the side again.

"He gives us a lot, he's a very good player," Bennett said. The coach also said Kahu had been cleared to play after getting through all the drills at training on Thursday morning.

"The medical staff realised after the game it probably wasn't as serious as they first thought. We had a scan done and there was just a small tear there and it's repaired itself.

The Warriors are already under pressure to fire after an unexpected first round loss to the Wests Tigers.
