DARIUS Boyd is still no certainty to play in Friday's do-or-die clash against the Panthers, after he failed to train with the main Broncos squad Monday morning.
Boyd and Tevita Pangai Jr, who are both nursing hamstring injuries, only appeared at Red Hill towards the end of the training session to do some light running.
While Boyd also tested his legs out under some high balls, it was a very low-impact stint for the Brisbane skipper.
He and Pangai Jr stayed away from the main group and spent most of the morning in the gym.
The pair was missed by Brisbane in the loss to the Roosters last Friday and would be a great inclusion for this week's knockout semi at Suncorp Stadium.
But winger Jordan Kahu said the danger around Boyd was if they played him too soon, they could risk further injury.
"It's a hard thing,” Kahu said after Monday morning's session.
"If we win this game and he does play and he gets hurt, we'll miss him for the rest of the year.
"But we'll see how he goes.
"He's a crucial player in our team and our team captain.
"We would love to have him back but it's going to be a tough decision.”
It was a serious session for the Broncos yesterday, with a lot of focus on their defence and enthusiasm following Friday's agonising 24-22 defeat.
