Bruce Highway closed after man dies in crash near Cairns

A MAN has died following a two vehicle traffic crash at Gordonvale, south of Cairns, on Friday morning.

Police said that around 7.20am, a small white van and a utility collided head-on on the Bruce Highway.

A 33-year-old man and sole occupant of the van was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male sole occupant of the utility was treated for minor injuries.

The Bruce Highway was shut while emergency services attended the scene, but has since been re-opened to all traffic.

The Forensic Crash Unit investigation is continuing.
