Brumbies edge Force in close game
JAKE White's Brumbies started their 2012 Super Rugby campaign by edging the Force 19-17 at Canberra Stadium on Friday.
Brumbies winger Jesse Mogg scored a try on his debut which interrupted a prolonged goalkicking duel in the match.
Flyhalf James Stannard kicked four penalties for the Perth-based Force and scrumhalf Nic White kicked three for the Brumbies as all of the points in a stagnant first half came from goalkicks.
Mogg, who was one of six players making their debuts for a new-look Brumbies team, broke that train of scoring with the first try of the match in the 44th minute.
Two more tries followed in the next 11 minutes - one to Brumbies fullback Robbie Coleman and another to Stannard who scored all of his team's points - to put a little life into the match.
