Bureau keeping watch on tropical low off Queensland coast

The Bureau of Meteorology are keeping a close eye on a tropical low hanging off the Queensland coast.

The BoM website said the low, which is "weak" may intensify.

"A weak tropical low south of the Solomon Islands may intensify while moving west through the region mid next week," the site says.

Meanwhile, the cyclone watch area of the website says the low is not an immediate threat.

"This system poses no immediate threat to the Queensland coast," they said.

"The situation will be monitored carefully. Showers and storms will persist over the very far northern tropics near the weak trough."

This comes after a week of heavy falls throughout the region, which have resulted in river levels rising and minor flash flooding events.
