Bushfire threatens homes in WA

RESIDENTS whose homes are being threatened by a major bushfire in Western Australia's South West have been urged not to return to their properties.

About 150 residents from east Augusta and Molloy Island have gathered at an evacuation centre in Augusta for an update on the fire that has been threatening their homes for more than 24 hours.

Fire crews have managed to contain the blaze but strong winds and hot temperatures mean the situation is tenuous.

Molloy Island resident Rosie Gray says she is extremely anxious about the fate of her home.
