Campbell Newman hits Emerald

CAMPBELL Newman's visit to Emerald may have been fleeting, but he came bearing gifts.

With news on Royalties for the Regions funding, including a $5,600,000 grant to upgrade the Carnarvon Gorge Access Rd, LNP candidate for Gregory Lachlan Millar said the region is set to see great benefits.

"Today's announcement brings the total investment from the Royalties for the Regions program in the Gregory electorate to almost $30 million since 2012," he said.

"It's fantastic to see that not only will the Jericho pool receive funding, there will also be airport upgrades at Blackall and Jundah, and sealing of the access road leading into the Carnarvon Gorge."

In addition, a plan to upgrade inland highways was announced, increasing safety during times of natural disaster.
