Campbell pulls out of 100m freestyle

FREESTYLE relay gold medallist Cate Campbell has been forced to abandon the Olympic 100m freestyle competition due to gastroenteritis.

Australia's deputy chef de mission Kitty Chiller says she was just too ill to go to the Aquatics Centre.

"She's been ill now for just over a day," Chiller said.

"She improved slightly yesterday, went downhill a bit last night.

"She's been moved into a room on her own with her own bathroom as well and continues to be monitored today. So she's having no contact at all with any other team members or officials.
