Country music campout a winner raising funds for services

THE success of the Boyne Valley Country Music Campout last year was not only due to the brilliant musical performances but also the funds raised to help our emergency services.

The concert was a hit with locals, with guest artists Bill Chambers, Kate Leahy and Adi Burgess busting out some classics right into the night, all for a good cause.

A total of $1500 was raised and handed over by organisers on Saturday February 15 to the Gladstone and Districts Wildlife Carers Association and the Boyne Island and Many Peaks Rural Fire Brigades.

Campout organiser and local musician Jack Viljoen said even the smallest amount of money can go a long way.

"It is a privilege to be able to give back to these selfless volunteers who do not only work to control bushfires but played a significant part in assisting during, and after, the flood last year," he said.

The campout will be back on November 28 this year, and organisers say they are planning "a monster of a show".
