New Blue combo to soar against Pies
CARLTON coach Damien Keeping is hoping new recruit Tayla Harris and star blue Darcy Vescio become the most dangerous forward combination in AFLW02.
Carlton will unveil former Brisbane marquee Harris in the season opener against Collingwood at Ikon Park tomorrow night alongside league leading goal kicking from season one Vescio.
"She's in a really powerful position at this point in time," Keeping said of Harris.
"Her pre-season's been exceptional and we can't wait to see her in a navy blue jumper.
"(Harris and Vescio are) two exceptional players they've got unique skills about them, unique abilities and have forged a really good relationship off field."
The Blues other star recruit, Collingwood's 2017 best and fairest Nicola Stevens will meet her former teammates and Magpies coach Wayne Siekman was unsure how she would be received.
"She made a decision to leave the football club and her teammates will know what they were feeling when that happened last year," Siekman said.
"It's not something I can control, nor can Damien, (if) things will happen, it will happen."
High profile Magpie forward Mo Hope has been training in the midfield but Siekman refused to confirm where she'd start tomorrow night.
"She'll play every position," Siekman said.
"She's been practising and training (in the midfield) throughout the pre-season and she played there against Melbourne … she's got herself fit enough to play there as she's required for the team."
