Candy and Ryan get top marks on House Rules

CANDY and Ryan are the new House Rules frontrunners.

The NSW couple won last night's apartment renovation challenge, transforming a Sydney insect lover's home on a tight budget in just four days.

After twice earning scores of nine from judge Wendy Moore during the first round of the renovation show, Candy and Ryan finally earned an "elusive" 10 for the confident and colourful designs.

"From the moment I walked into Monica's lounge room I knew you guys completely understood the brief," Moore said.

In contrast Adelaide couple Bomber and Mel once again found themselves on the bottom of the leader board, producing what Moore called "possibly the worst room we've seen".

The couple took issue with the judges' comments, but were lucky to escape elimination with the scores from the challenge carrying over into the upcoming 24-hour fix-up challenge.

"They reckon we didn't follow the design brief at all, which I think is a load of you know what," Bomber said.

Sunday's 24-hour fix-up challenge will have real benefits for the five sets of homeowners, who will get to choose one zone in their own home to change.

As the winners of the unit makeover challenge, Candy and Ryan will receive an extra $1,000 towards their makeover budget.

House Rules airs Sundays at 6.30pm and Mondays through Wednesdays at 7.30pm on Channel 7.
