Gladstone is the sex toy capital of Queensland
GLADSTONE is the sex toy capital of the state, according to an adult website.
Rob Godwin, a spokesman from Lovehoney.com.au, said the adult website's data also showed that Gladstone residents spent more than double per person than those in Brisbane.
He said there was a correlation between the general economy in Gladstone and the big spend.
"Workers have more disposable income and do tend to spend money on themselves," he said.
"It's a remote city and there's a transient working population, with the fly-in, fly-out workers well paid."

He said Gladstone residents tended to buy expensive luxury items, which pushed the per capita spend up.
A Bit Cheeky adult shop manager Rhiannon Gilson said Curtis Island workers often purchased items for their partners.
"We also have females come in and buy items for their partners," she said.
Ms Gilson said exotic dancers and "working girls' also frequented the shop - and that they weren't afraid to spend big.
"There's been a big increase in sales over the last six months," she said.
Ms Gilson said the biggest sellers at the store were adult DVDs.
"We get couples come in, solo males, but not too many females," she said.
Amanda Miller, a customer at A Bit Cheeky, said she bought general items like massage oil from the store.
"It's less embarrassing than going to the supermarket," she said.
Vicky from Into Love agreed that Curtis Island workers and other cashed-up residents were willing to pay more for luxury items.
"The biggest spenders are husbands who are buying something for their wife.''
She said the Shades of Grey phenomenon made people more open about their private lives.
According to the Lovehoney website, the most popular product it sold to Gladstone residents was luxury vibrators.
