Car collides with pedestrian on Hospital Rd

A CAR hit a male pedestrian at the intersection of Hospital Rd and Egan St in Emerald early Friday evening.

Emergency crews responded to the call at 6.10pm.

Emerald police said the man appeared to have internal injuries and after being treated at the scene, was taken to the Emerald Hospital.

Preliminary investigations show the hatchback was travelling north along Hospital Rd when the accident occurred.

Sergeant Rob Smith said it appeared the man had failed to cross the road safely, but investigations were continuing.

"We remind pedestrians to use the traffic lights and pedestrian crossings where possible," Sgt Smith said.

"People should be vigilant and take extra time to check for vehicles prior to crossing roads."
