Car damaged and officer injured after group denied fast food

A POLICE vehicle has been damaged and an officer's leg cut after a group of men turned violent over fast food overnight.

Around 11.30pm, a large group of youths attended Bellbird Park McDonalds on Redbank Plains Road, and when staff refused them entry, they started banging on the doors and causing a disturbance.

Police were called, and on arrival, the group allegedly turned on officers and started yelling abuse and throwing rocks at them.

A number of the group were chased by police, and during a foot pursuit, an officer struck a wire fence and cut his leg and injured his elbow.

He was transported to hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Also during the incident, a police car suffered damage to a wing mirror.

A number of men and a boy have been arrested and charged for a number of public nuisance and good order offences.
