IT'S unlikely many My Kitchen Rules viewers will be rushing out to try their hand at spaghetti in a bag.
The seafood dish was a disaster for Adelaide newlyweds Carmine and Lauren, who hosted their instant restaurant No 32 tonight.
The couple started the night well, impressing the judges the homemade ricotta cheese in their entrée.
"Straight off the bat it looked great," judge Colin Fassnidge said.
"Your ricotta was nice, maybe a little splash of lemon next time. But I think the zucchinis let you down… I want to taste that char."
Fassnidge challenged them to wow him with the next course, saying when a simple dish is mediocre it's "like going on a date and not getting a kiss at the end of the night".
The ambitious Italians took a big gamble serving up their main course, a seafood spaghetti in a bag.
"I've done this dish many times in my restaurant; I love it," Fassnidge said.
"But what we've got here is closer to sushi than it was to being cooked.
"You've got great produce here… and you haven't cooked it. The pasta is overcooked, mushy.
"It's just a very bad dish."
Khoo shook her hands in frustration but was pleasantly surprised with Lauren regrouped with her dessert, a rum-soaked cake.
"It looked beautiful," Khoo said.
"The custard was delicious; lovely colour. If you look at the aeration really lovely.
"I was missing that rum; I like my rum. I would say you produced a dessert which would be good enough for a Parisian patisserie."
Carmine and Lauren's score of 51 means soul mates Eve and Jason are safe from elimination and can enjoy the rest of the third round of instant restaurants.
Father and son Mike and Tarq will cook in Far North Queensland tomorrow night.
