Carter helps Crusaders destroy ACT Brumbies at home

THE Brumbies have slumped to their first home loss of the season to the Crusaders.

Dan Carter was in great form with the boot to lead the visitors to the 30-23 win in Canberra.

The victory was built on strong defence while the home team failed to build momentum throughout the match.

The home lineout was not working properly while the Crusaders also had their own problems but still managed to dominate territory on the Carter's boot.

The ever-solid Carter was faultless with his kicking, hitting three penalties and three conversions.

Brumbies five-eighth Matt Toomua got the early wood over Carter, intercepting his opposite's cut-out pass near his tryline and running 85 metres to open the scoring in the seventh minute.

The two sides traded penalties before Crusaders halfback Andy Ellis scored in the 21st minute to level the scores 10-10.

Crusaders winger Zac Guilford then went over in the corner before sub grabbed another intercept try.

A late try to Ben Mowen and then a penalty to Christian Lealiifano was enough to salvage a late bonus point for the Brumbies.
