Case against murder accused is adjourned for seventh time

A GLADSTONE teenager accused of murdering his mother last July had his court date adjourned for the seventh time on Monday.

The case against Horace Lorenzo Jones, 19, was adjourned in the Gladstone Magistrates Court after a request to have witnesses cross-examined during the committal hearing.

Magistrate Russell Warfield moved the court date until September 12, providing the prosecution would submit their response by August 26.

Police prosecutor Sean Franklin said at this stage, police would not accept the request.

Jones was charged with the murder of his mother, Bundaberg woman Roxane Jones last July.

Her body was discovered in her 1999 Kia Sportage in Gladstone bushland.

Jones was charged with the murder several days after the body was discovered.

He will remain in custody at the Capricorn Correction Centre until further notice.

Jones is not required in court in September.
