Big Day Out for seniors

CENTRAL Highlands seniors, get your dancing shoes on, your singing voices tuned and reserve your spot on the bus to the 2011 Virgin Rock Seniors Big Day Out.

The event is held free for seniors across the region.

Seniors Week starts this year on Tuesday, August 23, and following the resounding success of each year’s event since 2008, places are sure to be quickly filled.

One of the first events hosted as the new amalgamated council, the Central Highlands Regional Council has helped Seniors Week grow from strength to strength, with an enthusiastic role played by the number of senior residents.

The audience can heckle their fellow seniors as they take part in the talent show, which is sure to attract a variety of performances.

Attendees can also line up to compete in the King and Queen of Seniors Week event, while enjoying the entertainment on offer, and will be in with a chance to win prizes chosen by the CHRC.

“Not only is it a wonderful event for our guests, but it also gives our community service and development staff from all our offices the chance to come together and work as a team on a single, regional event,” CHRC Mayor Peter Maguire said.

“I know they enjoy it as much as the seniors.

“They have an exciting day planned, so I encourage people interested in attending to contact their council office... and book a seat on a bus if needed.”
