Central Highlands deluged

PARTS of the Central Highlands and west have been deluged by rain from a slow-moving trough.

Offical rainfall figures from the Bureau of Meteorology in the 24 hours to 9am today show Springsure at the top of the list, recording 132mm.

Barcaldine got showers of up to 106mm and Aramac with 101mm rounded out the areas with falls over the 100mm mark, with Anakie recording 97mm.

Tambo received 91mm, Emerald 52mm and Rolleston 30mm.

But it was Holmleigh in the Central Lowlands recorded a whopping 206mm in the 24hrs to 9am today.

BOM records showed Minerva, between Emerald and Springsure, received 75mm in Wednesday night's storm with 60mm dumped on Springsure and Tambo, and 36mm at Orion and the Gemfields.

Falls of more than 100mm have been recorded west of Alpha, but official records at BOM show 34mm.

Heavy rain is expected to continue across the region today before clearing over the weekend.
