THE film crew for a new Channel 7 television program is coming to Warwick and they want locals to be a part of the action.

Filming begins next week in the Warwick and Southern Downs region and two big names in Australian television are starring in the production.

Packed to the Rafters star Rebecca Gibney is a co-creator and executive producer on the show set to hit Australian television next year.

Home and Away heartthrob Steve Peacocke will join Gibney on screen and a casting call has been put out for Warwick locals to be extras in the filming.

Bud Hopes Film and Television Casting are looking for local men and women aged 18-80 who have a "great character look" to play the role of townsfolk, barflies and "rough looking truckies".

Assistant Locations Manager of the production, Jacob Livermore said Warwick was the perfect location for the show.

In case you missed it:

"It's a road trip of sorts and we wanted a location with a diverse backdrop," Mr Livermore said.

"We had filmed commercials here before and thought this was a great opportunity to do something bigger.

"The script called for a sunny regional area with a few historic locations to give it that great feel.

"Warwick and the Southern Downs was one of the first areas to come to mind. Mr Livermore said filming would take place over three weeks and would include Leslie Dam and some spots in Killarney and Stanthorpe.

Extra roles are paid positions and you might find yourself alongside some icons of Australian television.
