Charges laid after Sunday night Boyne Island drama

Kelvin Shane Hughes, 23, accused of involvement in incidents at Boyne Island in which a man was reportedly stabbed on Sunday March 13, remains in police custody charged with three offences: Affray; assault; and going armed, causing fear.

Hughes did not physically appear before magistrate Penelope Hay in Gladstone Magistrates Court yesterday, instead remaining in his holding cell. His lawyer Jun Pepito did not make a bail application.

The charges relate to his alleged involvement in incidents in Richmond Court and Malpas St including the Caltex service station on Sunday.

The court heard Hughes was free on Probation at the time following a previous sentence in Brisbane Magistrates Court in August last year. in which he was ordered to complete 200 hours of community service.

His case was adjourned.
