Chopper pilot undergoes surgery

THE man involved in a helicopter crash in Central West Queensland yesterday was undergoing surgery late this afternoon.

The man, believed to be 34-years-old, is in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

He was the pilot, and sole occupant, of a helicopter which crashed into power-lines at Blackall.

He was transported by the Queensland Ambulance Service to Isisford where they were met by Royal Flying Doctors Service paramedics.

The Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Ambulance Service and a cvil aviation body all attended the incident, which occurred about 3.10pm.

The chopper went down on Blackall Emmett Rd and was difficult for emergency services to reach.
