Broncos cheer squad turns to Toowoomba for NRL grand final
TRAVEL dramas of football fans trying to make it to Sunday's NRL grand final have extended to one of the team's official cheerleading squads.
Thankfully, a sisterhood of travelling pom-poms and a Toowoomba bus company have come to the rescue of the Brisbane Broncos cheer squad.
Broncos cheerleader Jools Purchase put the call out for help getting transport to Sydney after airfares skyrocketed when the Cowboys defied the odds and also qualified for the all-Queensland grand final.
That call was answered by Ms Purchase's former cheer coach and current Toowoomba City Cheerleaders coach Lyndal Johns.
A bus was organised through Stonestreets Coaches which the Broncos squad will pick up from Toowoomba tomorrow.
TCC team manager Kylie Mohr said organising the bus was just another example of the close ties the two clubs had.
She said TCC regularly performed alongside the Broncos squad at Suncorp Stadium and by helping to organise the bus, the close links had been solidified.
TCC squad members will give the 10 team members a full send-off from Toowoomba tomorrow morning.
