IN DEEP: Colourful dive at Jew Shoal site

A GROUP of keen Mooloolaba divers headed to Noosa during the week to dive Jew Shoal.

Jew Shoal lies just north of Noosa Heads in Laguna Bay.

The dive site has a sandstone rocky bottom with plenty of pinnacles and gutters which makes the site interesting to explore.

It is both a popular fishing spot as well as a close offshore dive site.

There is a good coverage of hard and soft corals and the divers came across a moray eel, wobbygong shark and sighted plenty of beautifully coloured nudibranch and sponges of all colours.

The underwater visibility was around five to seven metres but given all the rain we've had recently, this should be expected.

The divers were looked after by Steve Kerry, who operates Sub-Surface Scuba, a relatively new dive operation.

Noosa has been without a dive business for some time so it is good news to see a new start-up.
