SLIP, slop, slap and wrap to prepare for a fun day at the pool to raise money for flood victims.
A fun day is planned on Saturday, February 12, at the Middlemount Aquatic Centre to raise money for those affected by the flooding of the Mackenzie River. The event starts from 3pm with everything costing $2 - entry, fairyfloss and multidraw raffle.
The main attraction of the day is the swim-a-thon where people donate to participate or watch swimmers do laps.
One of the organisers of the event, Andrew Turner, said the organising committee was getting businesses involved and all the money raised would go towards flood affected residents and the Parents and Citizens Association at Mackenzie River State School.
“One person lost their house and belongings and a lot of properties along the river all lost something - land, cattle or machinery,” he said. “The fun day is a way to give a little something to help them out.”
