Costigan says ripping away concessions was 'mean spirited'

FOLLOWING from the anger from communities all over Queensland, the government has done a backflip and will reinstate entire senior and pensioner concessions.

Whitsunday MP Jason Costigan said ripping away concessions was mean spirited.

"Being the son of a pensioner, I know only too well how many people in our community live from day to day," he said.

"The ripping away of those concessions by our colleagues in Canberra was mean spirited and has clearly gone down like a lead balloon.

"We obviously did our best to fill the gap by increasing our State's concessions by almost 10 per cent but it wasn't enough to fill the pothole left by Canberra.

"Since then, we have listened to the people of Queensland and acted accordingly."
