Coulthard leads one-two for Team Penske

MOTORSPORTS: DJR Team Penske clinched their first victory in a Supercars Championship event in Race 4 at the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint.

Fabian Coulthard led Scott McLaughlin across the line in a team one-two, with Red Bull's Jamie Whincup rounding out the podium.

"I didn't think it was possible after qualifying, but in the dry the thing was a jet," Coulthard, who started sixth, said.

"I think we should leave here pretty happy. A one-two for the team doesn't get much better."

Chaz Mostert looked set for a breakthrough win of his own, dominating the race until slipping off with a handful of laps remaining to fall to seventh.

Shane van Gisbergen retains the championship lead despite a scrappy race that saw him penalised for early-race contact, climbing his way back to ninth at the finish.

Will Davison, meanwhile, spent another night in hospital with suspected fractures in his lower back after the 12-car pile-up in race one on Saturday.

Davison has suspected fractures and is in doubt for Phillip Island.

"He has a possible fracture to a vertebra in his lower back," said Davison's manager David Segal.

"There are currently more scans and tests being done to confirm that initial diagnosis and make sure there are no other hidden injuries.

"He's got some belt trauma as well and while he is in reasonable spirits, he's had a pretty tough night and not feeling fabulous.

"It looks like he won't be able to fly until tomorrow (Monday) and from there it'll be a process of recovery."
