EMERALD State High School students have a glamorous addition to the classroom today in the form of country singer Amber Lawrence.
Amber comes to Emerald as part of the Austar for Schools’ Music Month.
She has won a number of awards including the 2010 Telstra Horizon Awards and female vocalist of the year at the Victoria National Country Music awards.
“I’m thrilled to be part of the Austar for schools program again,” she said.
“Last year was so rewarding and fun – meeting the students, telling my story and singing some songs and in some cases, hearing them sing songs.”
Amber is touring regional Australia, performing songs from her critically acclaimed album, When it All Comes Down.
She will present a $2000 grant to the ESHS. Participating schools also receive an acoustic guitar for the music department.
