Country star Kenny Chesney crowned 'king of the road'

KENNY Chesney has sold more concert tickets than any other artist over the past decade.

The country music star - who was briefly married to actress Renee Zellweger in 2005 - has been declared the undisputed king of the road ahead of Bruce Springsteen, U2, The Rolling Stones and Madonna.

According to the Wall Street Journal, recent figures calculated by concert tracking site, Pollstar, show that the 45-year-old musician has sold 9.8 million tickets, grossing $608.6 million, in the past 10 years, while the 'Born In The USA' rocker has sold 5.5 million tickets, worth $460.5 million.

Kenny - who is hitting the road for 49 shows this summer - also reportedly has a sell-out rate of 94 percent.

Madonna's MDNA Tour was previously named the highest grossing of 2012, while Kenny's tour with Tim McGraw came in seventh place.

The 'Material Girl' singer's 72 shows in the year from November 9, 2011, to November 13 2012 were all sell outs, making $228,406,085.

Behind Madonna on the highest grossing list was Bruce, who grossed $199,371,791 from 72 shows, 54 of which were sold out.

Third on the list was former Pink Floyd musician Roger Waters, who made $186,466,703 from 72 dates of his The Wall Live tour.

Her arch-rival, Lady Gaga, came in sixth with her Born This Way Ball grossing $124,879,545 from 65 sold out shows.
