Country royalty to rock Ipswich at CMC concert

PREPARATION is well and truly underway for the biggest country music event on Ipswich's social calendar.

In just a few short days more than 13,500 country music fans will flood into Willowbank for the highly anticipated CMC Rocks festival.

This year's event, which will be held from Friday to Sunday, will attract a record crowd thanks to headlining US country music stars Jason Aldean (pictured below), Lee Brice and Florida Georgia Line.

Festival manager Anne Phillips said it took more than 50 people 12 full days to set up for the event, which has sold out for the first time in its existence.

"We have 2230 camp sites this year which will house 6000 people," she said.

"We've got our main stage and a second stage, six bars, market stalls, a merchandise tent, a CD store and more than 30 food stalls on site."

Ms Phillips said although construction was a big task, most of the hard work came months before the festival.

"As soon as one festival finishes I'm working on the next one," she said.

"It's great to see how it's grown from 1500 people when we started, to 13,500 today.

"It's also a really friendly atmosphere. It's just a lot of country music-loving people getting together."
