UPDATE 3PM TUESDAY: A MARYBOROUGH man has been charged for the alleged home invasion and stabbing of a couple in Smith St, Maryborough.
The Maryborough Criminal Investigation Branch has charged a 28-year-old man with entering a dwelling with intent, grievous bodily harm and wounding.
Maryborough CIB Detective Sergeant Mick Polit said a woman who allegedly transported the accused attacker had been spoken to "a couple of times" by officers, but had not been charged.
"She is refusing to assist us," Det Sgt Polit said.
"We will be conducting further investigations."
Det Sgt Polit confirmed the incident was "drug related" and released further details about the alleged incident.
The detective sergeant said it was believed the offender brought a knife to the scene, and the victims have defended themselves with a metre-long sword that belonged to them.
The accused attacker's matter is expected to be mentioned in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Wednesday, but the man will most likely not appear due to still receiving hospital treatment.
The alleged offender was injured during the incident, it is reported he suffered lacerations to his arm and face.
He was expected to go into surgery on Tuesday afternoon, but the operation was delayed.
A Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service spokesman said the man was in a stable condition.
UPDATE 10.30AM TUESDAY: Charges are yet to be laid to those involved in an alleged stabbing in Maryborough on Sunday night.
Detectives will continue to investigate the incident which occurred at a Smith St home, leaving three people will lacerations.
Police have confirmed the sword involved in the attack was already at the house where the intruder entered before the attack took place.

UPDATE 2.30PM MONDAY: DETECTIVES have confirmed a sword was used in a violent home invasion that allegedly left three people with lacerations in a Smith St home, Maryborough.
Maryborough Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Sergeant Mick Polit told the Chronicle a sword belonging to the alleged male victim was believed to have caused the injuries to all three people involved.
"The sword was already at the house," Det Sgt Polit said.
"It's an ornamental type object, a lot of shops sell them."
Det Sgt Polit said it was believed the people involved were known to each other, and it was not a break and enter scenario.
The Detective Sergeant said forensic officers had found "a large amount of blood" at the Maryborough home.
He said officers had seized a car on Sunday night, believed to have been used by the suspected offender and a woman to arrive and leave the house.
"[The car] was seized at Station Square [shopping centre in Maryborough]," he said.
"We believe he had a female with him, they've driven to Maryborough Hospital because [the suspect] had a serious hand injury. He's been taken to Hervey Bay Hospital and she has parked at the shopping centre."
Det Sgt Polit said police were yet to talk to those involved with the invasion and the stabbing.
"We're expecting to charge someone in the future, however the time and place of that will be determined by [when those involved will become available]."
UPDATE 1.10PM: A NEIGHBOUR of a couple who was reportedly stabbed in their own Maryborough home said he went outside to see "police cars everywhere" about 2am on Monday.
David lives in the house next door to the crime scene, and said he was watching a movie with his friend at the time of the incident.
"I went to say goodbye to my friend [at 2am] and he couldn't get out because of the police tape," David said.
"It was actually quite confronting."
David said he had never seen police at the Smith St home since the alleged victims moved in.
He said his street was often noisy with children playing outside, but was shocked to hear what had happened.
"I'd only really said hello to them a few times," he said.
David said the couple lived in the home with their children.
UPDATE 8.15AM: IT IS believed a Samarai sword may have been used to stab two people in Maryborough on Sunday night.
Paramedics have confirmed they were called to the home about 10pm after reports of the gruesome attack.
Ambulance officers treated the woman for injuries to her hand, and the man sustained injuries to his face, chest, abdomen, arms and legs.
Police are continuing their investigations.
EARLIER: DETECTIVES are investigating after a couple was asleep in their home and woke to find a male intruder inside their bedroom.
Initial inquiries indicate around 9.40pm on Sunday a 36-year-old woman saw a man climb through the bedroom window in Maryborough.
She yelled out and woke up a 37-year-old man.
Police can confirm both men sustained injuries after a struggle, as did the woman.
The injured intruder fled the home through the kitchen and later went to Maryborough Hospital with injuries including lacerations to his arm and face.
The man and woman were both taken to Hervey Bay Hospital.
The female victim had a laceration to her hand.
The male victim received lacerations to his face and abdomen and scratches to his neck and back.
None of the injuries are considered life threatening.
Police investigations are continuing.
