CQ road network bounces back

SINCE the devastating floods that hit Central Queensland, significant repairs have been made to the damaged road network.

Local councils, private contractors and RoadTek provided temporary repairs to re-open roads for local communities.

Nearly $2 million was spent in and around Rolleston.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads awarded $229 million of reconstruction contracts in the region, including more than $100 million for the Capricorn Highway.

Stretching 270km between Emerald and Rockhampton, a third requires reconstruction.
