Cream of the CW rugby league crop

CENTRAL West Rugby League kicked off the season with a junior cluster day and Reds v Greys senior match at Ilfracombe Recreation Centre last Saturday.

The day started at 11am with a great roll-up of juniors who jumped at the chance to follow in their idols' footsteps.

Following the juniors was the Reds (Winton/Longreach) v Greys (Blackall/Ilfracombe/Barcaldine) match.

It was held to pick a side for the upcoming Drummond Cup, which will see the Central Highlands take on the Central West in Winton on March 17.

The Reds ran out clear winners at 32-6, with tries to Mitchell Anderson (2), Courtney Hoad (2), Trent Hoad, Trent Thomas, David Moloney and Casey Peacock. Dan Chilcott made two conversions.

The Greys scored just one try, which went to Brendon Lenton. It was converted by Adrian Lenton.
