Australia to play Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi

AUSTRALIA will play Afghanistan today looking to build on its first-up win in the Under-19 World Cup in Abu Dhabi.

Victorian batsman Matt Short came within a whisker of a century as Australia smashed Namibia by 101 runs.

Short's hard-hitting exhibition saw him score 96 on a slow, low wicket with Australia finishing on 7-242.

"It's a bit disappointing not going all the way to a hundred, but the boys batted pretty well," Short said.

Disciplined bowling from the Australian attack especially James Bazley (3-25) and Matt Fotia (3-23) meant Namibia's fight was all over for 141.
