Watson does Lehmann proud with 90 against Somerset

SHANE Watson repaid the faith shown by new coach Darren Lehmann by scoring 90 against Somerset at Taunton, but who will open with Watson in the first Ashes Test on July 10 remains to be seen.

Incumbent Ed Cowan will have to produce a major contribution in his second innings after making only three as Australia reached four for 266 in reply to Somerset's 320 on day two.

Meanwhile, Lehmann has wasted little time getting rid of the controversial rotation policy saying form would be his benchmark.

"We are going to pick the best available each and every time," he said.
