CrossFit champ halfway into epic journey for mental health

WORLD CrossFit Champion and Run For MI Life ambassador Amanda Allan is halfway into her epic 1200km journey from Toowoomba to Mackay to raise awareness for mental health.

The Balance Podiatry Run For MI Queensland event focuses on depression and suicide awareness, and resources promotion where it is desperately needed.

Amanda is running through inland Queensland, beginning her journey in Toowoomba and crossing the finish line in Mackay on July 2.

Event manager Sarah Annetts said Amanda arrived in Emerald today, where she will stay until Saturday before continuing her journey.

"I think she is nearly at the halfway mark now, which is incredible when she sets off again on Saturday she will have done 450km," she said.

"Amanda and other mental health representatives will speak at events in Emerald about suicide awareness."

How you can help

At each major stop community members can register to participate in a 'mini run' with Amanda as she leaves to go on to the next major stop.

There will also be CrossFit boxes that will feature Amanda in a work-out at each major location.

At each major stop Amanda will deliver a speech and provide information regarding mental health resources available locally to the community prior to her leaving.

Any money raised within the community will be donated back to the community by way of providing SafeTALK for free in that community.

Pricing to run or attend the Crossfit WOD:

 Adults / children $20

 Family pass $70 (2 Adults & 2 Children)

 Primary school group $15 - min 15/booking

 High school group $15 - min 15/booking

It is free to attend the events and wave Amanda off (or welcome her in Mackay).
